This renovation of an existing basement apartment into an integrated part of the upstairs single family residence allowed the owners a chance to express their taste for striking, modern design while acquiring a new family room/entertainment center, a second home office, a second kitchen to expand their entertaining, and a smart guest suite for visitors.

The work involved removing all traces of the existing apartment, except the existing duct and plumbing work required to service the upstairs living spaces. Interior partitions were removed and windows replaced. The focus for the new work included high quality finishes, new kitchen cabinets and appliances, extensive custom millwork including new bookcases and fireplace mantle, and bath cabinetry, and a contemporary color scheme that highlights the bright, clean tone of the space.
